Sony is finally revealing what the PlayStation 5 looks like. After about an hour of the PS5 game announcements, Sony today revealed the hardware design after teasing it for the duration of its PS5 live event. Not only are we getting a beautiful white console, which looks very different from its PlayStation 4 predecessor, but we are also getting two versions of it. The PS5 console includes a white-and-black design to match the new controller that will be included in the box.
The PS5 stands vertically, as the Xbox Series X is primarily placed, and will include two versions: one with a 4K Blu-ray drive and a pure digital version. The PS5 version without the optical drive looks significantly thinner than the regular model, thanks to the drive being removed.
Removing the drive should mean that the digital version of the PS5 is cheaper, but Sony has not yet mentioned pricing. Sony only revealed the design during the live stream, but the company has not set a fixed release date or exact pricing for any version of the PS5.
Sony has also produced a number of accessories for the PS5, including a new HD camera, a DualSense charging station, a Pulse 3D wireless headset, and a media remote. Sony has not yet announced pricing for any of its accessories, or whether they will launch with the all-new PS5 console.
